Things to Do in Erice

Erice sits on a mountain above Trapani, reached by a cable car that takes about 10 minutes and is worth the ticket for the view alone on a clear day. The medieval streets are genuinely well preserved, and the town is known locally for its pastry shops — genovesi and almond sweets in particular — more than any single monument. It's a half-day trip at most; combine it with Trapani rather than trying to fill a full day up here.
