Things to Do in Mondello

Mondello is Palermo's beach, about 20 minutes from the city centre by bus or car, with pale sand and shallow water that fills up fast on summer weekends. Boat trips from here run out to Isola delle Femmine and along the coast rather than to anywhere distant, and a handful of seafront kiosks do a reasonable aperitivo if you don't want a sit-down meal. It's a half-day out, not a destination in its own right — combine it with Palermo rather than basing yourself here.
