Things to Do in Palermo

Sicily's capital runs on its markets as much as its monuments — Ballarò and Il Capo trade produce and street food from dawn, while the Norman Palace and Cattedrale sit a short walk from both. Boat trips out to Isola delle Femmine and food tours through the historic centre are the two best-booked categories here; day trips to Monreale or Cefalù are easy add-ons rather than full days on their own. Traffic in the old centre is dense and largely pedestrian-only, so plan on walking once you're inside the walls.
