Things to Do in Piazza Armerina

Piazza Armerina's real draw sits just outside town: the Villa Romana del Casale, a Roman villa with floor mosaics — including the well-known 'bikini girls' panel — that rank among the best preserved anywhere in the former empire. Raised walkways let you look down on the floors without walking on them, which is also why the visit takes longer than expected, so budget at least two hours. The town itself, inland and roughly equidistant from Catania and Agrigento, is otherwise a modest stop best combined with Caltagirone or Enna on the same route.
