Things to Do in Pantelleria

Pantelleria is a volcanic island closer to Tunisia than to Sicily, reached by a roughly 45-minute flight from Trapani or Palermo, or a much longer ferry crossing that isn't a realistic option for a short trip. The island's dammusi — thick-walled stone houses built to hold the cool — and its capers, grown in low stone-walled plots against the wind, are genuinely specific to here rather than generic island marketing. Boat trips around the coast and the volcanic hot spring at Lago di Venere are the main bookable activities; there isn't a resort strip, and that's deliberate.
