Things to Do in Trapani

Trapani is Sicily's western port city, about an hour from Palermo by motorway, and the departure point for ferries to the Egadi Islands and, less often, Pantelleria. The old town's sickle-shaped harbour and the nearby salt pans are worth an afternoon; most people otherwise pass through on the way to Erice, Marsala or the islands rather than staying multiple nights. If you're driving, remember the historic centre has restricted traffic zones (ZTL) enforced by camera, so check before you park inside the walls.
